Geography at NUI Galway is delighted to welcome two of the world’s most prolific geographers to present at this year’s CIG:
Prof David Harvey, Distinguished Professor of Anthropology and Geography at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York (CUNY)
Prof Douglas Sherman, Professor and Chair of the Geography Department, at the University of Alabama
45th Conference of Irish Geographers
The 2013 Conference marks the 45th CIG and it will take place during the 50th anniversary of Geography at NUI Galway. Within Geography at NUIG there are four active research clusters focusing on:
Environmental Change
Geopolitics and Justice
Planning and Sustainability, and
Rural Studies.
In addition to a call for general papers, authors are encouraged to submit papers which address this year’s conference theme - Transformative Geographies: Critical Reflections on Environment, Sustainability and Governmentality.
Abstracts
If you would like to propose a paper (in English or Irish), please submit your title and an abstract of 250 words accompanied by a short biographical sketch as a PDF document. In addition to the presentation of papers we invite contributions to alternative forms of debate and discussion: e.g. proposals for themed sessions, poster sessions etc. Abstracts are invited from the policy and practice community, as well as the academic community.
Deadline for submission of proposals and abstracts: 14th March 2013.
