IRISH UNSCHOOLING CONFERENCE 2014
This first Irish Unschooling Conference is designed for parents, teenagers and all those who are exploring or following an unschooling approach to Home Education. This is an approach where there is no set curriculum and children learn through everyday life and through following their interests, all the while accompanied and supported by those around them.
The speakers on the day will include Dr. Alan Thomas, who will speak about his research into how children learn at home including how children learn to read without being taught, parents who have followed a child-led approach to home education, a home educated teenager and a home educated adult, a talk on the law around home education and Cindy Dring from NUI Galway will discuss access to 3rd level education. There will also be a Youth Forum for teenagers aged 14 and over and discussion groups for parents.
The website www.irishunschoolingconference.com has more information on the agenda and how to book.
We are not organising activities for younger children so it may be more fun for them to explore the area with another adult.
This conference is not-for-profit and has been arranged so as to cover costs. We are grateful to all of the speakers who have volunteered their time.
