Conversations That Matter II
Comhráite domhanda a bhfuil brí leo
25-27 June 2009
The International Center on Service-Learning in Teacher Education invites you to submit a proposal to present at the Second International Conference on Service-Learning in Teacher Education.
This conference brings together teacher educators from around the world to clarify service-learning language, share professional work, and explore possibilities for future collaboration on issues of research, policy, and practice. Along with teacher educators, scholars, researchers, and educational policy makers, we encourage primary and secondary school teachers and pre-service student teachers experienced in and those desiring to learn about service-learning, to participate.
We will open the conference with the World Café process that seeks to “Shape Our Futures Through Conversations That Matter.” As Margaret Wheatley, author of Leadership and the New Science, comments,
We humans want to talk together about things that matter to us. In fact, this is what gives satisfaction and meaning to life. Second, as we talk together we are able to access a greater wisdom that is found only in the collective.
The World Café process engages participants in dialog about key issues designed to deepen our understanding about how to enrich teacher education service-learning practice, policy, and research.
This conference seeks to provide a variety of settings for conversations that matter about service-learning in teacher education. We strongly encourage sharing of work that demonstrates academic rigor and high-quality research.
The ICSLTE has four special interest groups, and these groups will also meet during the conference: Research, Citizenship, International Faculty/Student Exchange, and Technology Connections.
