Background Innovation involves learning and borrowing from many disciplines to develop our own. For years a small group of marketing academics have championed the idea that in many service situations, service personnel are on stage, playing roles, acting. Logically the question arises what can be learnt, adopted and applied from theatre and acting to assist service businesses deliver excellent customer service.
Objectives During this one day seminar these academics will explore in workshop fashion:
• The key issues in services marketing and the similarities between interactive marketing and theatre. • Applying theatrical approaches to customer service. • How to script effectively. • The value of improvisation training. • Taking the audience perspective using a drama critic’s approach. • The value of forum theatre in designing service performance.
For full details, see conference programme.
Methodology All workshops will be highly participative, with discussions, and role playing being the main training methodologies. Participants are expected to challenge us in our thinking, research and approaches. Participants will be equally challenged to bring a new way of thinking to service performance and so customer service. It will be a thoughtful, challenging and rewarding day.
Presenters (Cast) The cast are among the leaders in this area of research and regularly are keynote speakers at Service Marketing conferences in Europe, the USA and Asia.
