Past, Present & Current Policies of the EU in the field of Human Rights, Peace & Security
General Information

The conference is hosted by the Irish Centre for Human Rights and will be held on the campus of the National University of Ireland, Galway. The conference is held within the framework of an EU-sponsored research project (COST Action A28) on the theme of Human Rights, Peace and Security in the Foreign Policy of the EU and will also host the 6th annual conference of the Association of Human Rights Institutes (AHRI). A memorandum of understanding between COST and AHRI on the implementation of the COST research project was signed in 2004.

Participants

The conference is open for AHRI members participating in the COST research project as well other scholars with a strong research interest in the sub-themes of the COST Action (peacekeeping and peace enforcement, international criminal tribunals, development cooperation and the High Commissioner for Human Rights and the High Commissioner on National Minorities).

Registration and conference fee

Registration can only be made on line on this website and can only be made upon payment of a conference fee. Deadline for registration is 15 August 2005.

The conference fee for COST-participants is 70 euro (reimbursable by COST).
The conference fee for NON-COST participants is 100 euro (non-reimbursable).

Cancellation policy

Provided a written cancellation is received before 31 August, the full payment minus 20% for bank charges and handling will be refunded. No refunds will be given after that date. The cancellation policy applies to all reservations made. No telephone cancellations will be accepted. Submit cancellation in writing to the Conference secretariat.

Conditions of registration

Delegates are expected to insure themselves against theft, loss, accidents and damage or medical expenses that may arise. The organizing committee does not accept responsibility for any of the above.

VISAS for non EU citizens

If you require a visa, it is your responsibility to find out how long it takes to obtain one.  Please bear in mind that the organisers can only send a letter of invitation to you or to any embassy once full tuition is paid.
