What is Planned for the Camp?

Our emphasis throughout the programme is that secondary school education, especially learning Mathematics, is a fun and enjoyable experience.

Throughout the programme there will be a mix of fun, team-building games and activities which are designed to prepare your child for the transition to secondary school. This also gives them the opportunity to get to enjoy themselves while getting know other students

In the afternoon there will be Mathematics classes. Workbooks and writing utensils will be provided by staff. These classes are based on preparing your child for the new Project Maths syllabus and will be student-centred. Learning will be achieved in a collaborative, co-operative and active environment and will not be lecture based.

Examples of Mathematics Lessons Include:

  • Pop Math
  • Let's Graph It!
  • Calculator Tricks

On Thursday we will have a fun day where students will have the opportunity to win special prizes. Every child will receive a NUIG backpack and some goodies on completion of the camp.
