You can travel to Galway from either Dublin or Shannon Airports.

  

  • Travelling from Dublin Airport to Galway

Dublin Airport is situated around 10 km north of Dublin city. There are a number of companies that provide coach travel from Dublin Airport to Galway City.

Note: Citylink and GoBus, both have on their Dublin/Dublin airport to Galway line an Express Service (non-stop) and a commuter service (the bus stops in every town between Dublin and Galway.

 

  • Travelling from Dublin Airport to Dublin City

If you prefer to travel from Dublin Airport to Dublin city before going to Galway, you can take a taxi to the city centre, but the special ‘Airlink’ bus is much cheaper and just as quick. It connects the Airport with Busáras (the central bus station in Dublin).  The ‘Airlink’ bus will also leave you at Heuston train station in Dublin (if you are travelling to Galway by train).

Irish Rail/ Iarnród Éireann: There is a frequent train service from Dublin (Heuston train station) to Galway daily. The journey takes approximately three hours. Irish Rail train timetables can be found at www.irishrail.ie/media/06-DublinGalway1.pdf.

 

·         Travelling from Shannon Airport to Galway 

Shannon Airport is a regional airport in the Midwest of Ireland which is about 1hour 30 mins from Galway. There are various bus services from Shannon to Galway. For more information: www.shannonairport.com/gns/to-from-the-airport/by-bus.aspx.

 

Citylink: Provides service between Shannon Airport and Galway city (service from Shannon to Galway has been reduced to three departures per day, so please check the schedules on their website at www.citylink.ie/.
