NUI Galway

Established in 1845, the University has developed substantially over the years and now caters for over 14,500 students distributed among seven faculties – Arts, Celtic Studies, Commerce, Engineering, Law, Medicine and Science.  The University is a vital education resource for the nation as a whole and it also maintains a worldwide reputation for teaching, research and scholarship.  NUI Galway was voted ‘University of the Year’ in September 2002.

One of the most attractive University sites in Europe, the campus is located on the banks of the river Corrib, just a ten minute walk from the centre of Galway city.  The close proximity of the University to Galway City, one of the fastest developing cities in Europe and a thriving, bustling centre of culture and commerce, provides students with ready access to all facilities a modern city offers. It provides a student-friendly social and cultural environment. Students of NUI Galway not only enjoy the social and cultural life of a thriving energetic city, but also one of Europe’s most beautiful and unspoiled hinterlands.
