International Conference on Civic Engagement and Service Learning, June 23 & 24, 2005
Call for Papers

Please note that the call for proposed papers is now closed.

The Organising Committee wish to support presentations from a wide range of perspectives and welcome submissions of abstracts that cover any topic within the general heading of Civic Engagement and Service Learning in Higher Education. International contributions are particularly welcome, as are presentations from NGOs and other community organisations. The format will include a mix of invited keynote talks, short presentations, workshop/discussion sessions and posters. Four sub-themes have been identified:

  • Theme A: Civic Responsibility and Higher Education
  • Theme B: Service Learning : Theory & Practice
  • Theme C: Volunteering & Community
  • Theme D: Experiential Learning, Placements & Projects: Issues in Learning & Assessment

Research results, case studies, reviews, survey findings, evaluation analyses and other contributions under these topics are welcome. It is essential that submissions are made before the deadline listed below in order to be considered. It is our intention that the proceedings from this conference are published and therefore, papers submitted should follow the guidelines and timescales issued by the conference organisers.

The final call for proposal is the 4th April, 2005.

Abstract Preparation

Abstracts should include the paper title, name and institution of each author, and text of up to 400 words describing the format and content of the session. A Bibliography can be added if desired.
