July 3rd:  Welcome Reception – BBQ
Welcome Reception will take place in the  College Bar from 19.00 to 21.00.  This will include a BBQ and entertainment by Nicola McGuire and ‘The Comonauts’. 

July 4th:  Walking Tour of Galway Including Volvo Village
A guided walking tour of Galway City where you will be shown the history and culture of this vibrant medieval City of the Tribes.  You will have time to explore the Global Village, part of the exciting Volvo Ocean Race Final Stopover.   Leaves Engineering Building, NUI Galway at 09.30.

July 5th:  The Cliffs of Moher & Burren Tour - Leaves from Engineering Building, NUI Galway at 09.30.  Light lunch included.
Taking you along Galway Bay, your first stop is at the fishing village of Kinvara to see Dunguaire Castle & into The Burren- home to 75% of Ireland's native flora & location of numerous ancient monuments many of which we visit including the Gleninsheen Wedge Tomb, the 5,800 year old Poulnabrone Dolmen and Ballyalban Fairy Fort- home of little men with green hats and orange beards!

Stopping also at Kilfenora to see the famous Celtic Crosses (Irish High Crosses), we make our way to the coastal village of Doolin for our lunch stop before visiting the 200-metre high, 8kms long Cliffs of Moher. Enjoy stunning views over the Atlantic Ocean and the Aran Islands and take your time to soak up the natural beauty of the Cliffs of Moher. We return via the Coast Road with views of Connemara & Galway in the distance making a short stop to walk on the lunar like landscape of the Burren and take in sight such as Leprechaun Head before returning to Galway between 5:30-6 pm in time to join colleagues for Conference Dinner.  Dinner is included in your fee.

The Cliffs of Moher recently appeared in Harry Potter's Half-Blood Prince and of course the movie classic The Princess Bride!

July 5th:  Conference Dinner (Optional) – Aula Maxima, Quadrangle Building, NUI Galway
Conference Dinner will take place at 20.00, dress is smart/casual.  After dinner entertainment is a taste of Irish Traditional Music.

July 6th:  Day trip to Aran Islands, departs Engineering Building, NUI Galway at 09.00.  Includes ferry, guided mini bus tour of Island.

July 7th:  All delegates – Optional Tour:  The Connemara & Cong Tour (Departs Engineering Building, NUI Galway at 09.00)
To see the hidden Ireland off the main tourist track this tour is a must with the first stop at Ross Errily Friary- a hidden but atmospheric 14th century monastery before entering Cong Village where you have time to explore Cong Woods to see Ashford Castle or stroll the town famous for being the location for the 1950s classic movie, 'The Quiet Man'- or simply have a coffee on the edge of Lough Corrib- the largest lake in the Republic of Ireland.

Entering Connemara on the Lough Nafooey route allows you to see the stark beauty of the hidden valley of Connemara before arriving at the Atlantic Ocean. The tour then continues to Kylemore Abbey and then drives through the Inagh Valley, Maam Cross & Oughterard and complete the circuit of Lough Corrib before arriving home to Galway City.

A truly magical day out in typical Irish countryside- let us bring it to life and inform you of the many legends from killer sheep to lake monsters.
